As we rapidly approach the 250th birthday of our great nation, we are beginning to plan many ways to celebrate here in Marshall, Illinois. Before the big event, Marshall is getting ready for something we do every summer, the Marshall Farmer’s Market.
The Marshall City band is tuning up its instruments and getting ready to entertain and delight us every Friday evening around the town square. Marshall hosts a wonderful event every Friday evening all summer long, featuring food trucks, vendors, a farmer’s market, and special treats for our Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce. Opening night of the Marshall Farmer’s Market is June 5th in downtown Marshall from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Join in the fun while checking out everything from handmade goods to fresh produce locally grown, as well as specialty items you won’t find in stores.
There will be special treats on opening night this year. Don’t miss the live and exciting demonstrations, including glass blowing and chainsaw carving. Watch as art is created right before your eyes.
Marshall is a family-focused town, so be sure to bring the kids. There will be bounce houses and activities to keep them happy and occupied while you take a leisurely stroll around the market to shop and enjoy. The live music from the City Band will happen every Friday night from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM as the Farmer’s Market winds down.
It’s always free to attend, for locals and visitors alike. We love having people from neighboring communities and even travelers from far and wide visit our wonderful little town and experience a Friday night in Marshall. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and pick your spot to enjoy the fresh air and music.
The Marshall Farmers Market may still be seeking a few more vendors for the upcoming season.

Dress Up Your Front Porch or Storefront
Marshall is sponsoring the Patriotic Porch & Storefront Contest. This is your chance to show off your decorating skills by dressing up your home porch or business storefront in patriotic fare. Show us how creative you can be with your red, white, and blue décor for a chance to win prizes, not to mention the bragging rights.
Registration is open now through July 1st at the close of business. Judging will take place on July 2nd. Winners will be announced July 4th during the Red, White, & Blue Bash on the downtown courthouse square. You don’t have to be present to collect your prize if you win, but why would you want to miss the celebration?

The Marshall Public Library offers an Interactive Dinner Theater Experience.
Chautauqua at the Crossroads: A Timeless Gathering
As part of their 110th Anniversary Celebration as well as their tribute to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, the Marshall Public Library is hosting an evening of mystery, history, and intrigue in partnership with the Friends of the Library, the Marshall Area Public Library District, and the Clark County Historical Society.
Held at Marshall’s historic Harlan Hall, guests will experience history like never before.
Date: June 19, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM
Audiences will be lulled into thinking this is just a pleasant evening dinner event until they encounter a mysterious figure known only as Circa. Suddenly, the doors lock, leaving the guests inside, who must work together quickly to uncover the truth and solve the mystery from clues hidden in artifacts, photographs, and local history itself.
Live History will be presented by an internationally acclaimed theatre company through immersive storytelling. Dinner will be provided by West Union Café, but you must register to attend, and seating is limited.
Tickets are $30 per person.
