The Festival Was a Big Success – What Other Fall Activities are Shaking in Marshall, Illinois Next?
We all enjoyed the annual Autumn Fest even more so than ever, having missed a year due to Covid. But now that the food trucks have pulled out, the bands have packed up, and the parades and all festivities are over, it’s time to look to the fall for activities to do and enjoy. School is in full swing, and the cooler weather is sliding in. There is a nip in the night air, with temperatures dropping from the mid-70s’ in the day to the 50’s at night. This means it is time to break out the sweaters, hats, and flannel shirts. Apple cider and warm donuts, tossing around the football between games on Sundays, Friday night lights all mean Fall is here with its many activities.
As the weather cools down, we think of sitting in a cozy spot with a hot cup of tea and reading a book. Don’t forget that Marshall has a terrific library, and books are waiting to be read. Curbside pick-up is still available for your convenience. Just call the library and arrange a time to pick up or return your books in front of the building.
Need some tech advice and education?
If you want to get more use out of your laptop, phone, or tablet, just bring your device into the library any Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm and ask all your burning questions. You will want to be a pro when the winter months keep you inside and need to communicate effectively with friends, family, and business connections.
Want to learn about some famous local actors at a presentation at our Marshall Library?
Come out on Thursday, September 30th at 6:30 pm when Historian and author Tim Crumrin, formerly of Marshall, will discuss the careers of two local boys who put Clark County on the map. Carl Switzer was born in Clark County and Billy Lee just across the state line in Vigo County. Switzer was most famous as Alfalfa in the Little Rascals/Our Gang comedies and came to a tragic end at his death. Billy Lee was a fellow cast member and an accomplished musician and movie star. After the presentation, stick around for a showing of Reg’lar Fellers, a movie starring both Carl and Billy. Please call the library to register because seating is limited. 217.826.2535
