It’s that time of year again. We are all gearing up for the most exciting weekend of the year here in Marshall, Illinois, the annual Marshall Autumn Fest. This is a true community event and is free to the public. This tradition is held the third full weekend of September every year, and this year we are on track for one of the best Autumn Fests ever.
The 2021 dates are Sept 17-19th and will include food vendors, arts and crafts booths, a cakewalk, live music/entertainment all weekend, a parade on Saturday at 11:00, kids’ activities, and a car, truck, and motorcycle show on Sunday.
Schedule of Events – Autumn Fest!
Friday, Sept 17:
We kick off the weekend with the annual Chamber Golf Outing at the beautiful Marshall Golf Course. Besides a great game of golf, there will be fun games, good food, and plenty of drinks. There are two flights of golf, one at 8:00 AM and one at noon. Teams are already signing up, so contact the chamber soon to get your team of 4 signed up for the event.
4 PM-8 PM – join fellow community members for a delicious Fish Dinner presented by VFW Auxiliary at the Marshall V.F.W.
6 PM – The Clark County Optimist Club holds their Cake Walk. Join them at 6th & Locust, Marshall, Ill.
6 PM – Head to the Band Stand for the Opening Ceremony, where Mayor John Hasten will welcome attendees and participants. There will be Arts, Crafts, Food Booths, and the crowning of the Prince and Princess. Each year six girls and six boys are selected as candidates for the Autumn Fest Prince/Princess contest. Join us at the bandstand to see who these 12 individuals are and who will be chosen as the overall prince and princess of Autumn Fest 2021.
Candidates with the most “votes” (who receive the most money in the voting buckets) will be crowned Prince and Princess.) (Bonus: Thursday, Sept 9 – If you want to see the candidates and vote for the winner, head to The Lion’s Den between 4:00 and 6:00 PM for supper and meet the six boys and six girls vying for Prince and Princess of the festival. Bring your change and place your vote for which boy and which girl you want to see crowned on coronation night.
Entertainment at the bandstand will follow –
6:30 PM – 7:45 PM Cornfield Mafia kicks off the music.
Cornfield Mafia is a blend of that down-home traditional storytelling mixed in with some classic rock and soul sounds.
8 PM-9:30 PM – The Van-Dells
In 2021, The Van-Dells will celebrate 47 years of entertaining audiences of all ages with their unique blend of comedy, choreography, and tight harmonies. The Van-Dells have been called “The 3 Stooges set to music.”
9:30 PM – 10:30 PM – Street Dance w/ Sanders Sound Machine
From 9 PM to midnight, the party continues with a Beer Patio at the Marshall VFW.
Saturday, Sept 18:
7 am-10 AM – The Marshal Rotary is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast at Marshall Family Restaurant
7:45 AM – join us for a 5K/2-mile walk
– Clark County Shop with a Cop at the First Christian Church
11 AM – The Parade
This is a highlight of the weekend, so don’t miss the fun harvest-themed entries and floats.
1 PM- 9 PM: Beer & Wine Garden and Samplings at Moe’s Package Liquor
12 PM: At the Bandstand – the music begins with Talents Unlimited
1 PM –1:45 PM – Andy Reuter
Andy Rueter is an American country music singer-songwriter. His musical influences are vast, from country to funk. He has played guitar for 35 years.
2 PM – 4 PM – Big Fun Band
Rich sounds of Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire blend with rock and blues to create top-quality entertainment.
6 PM – Circle City Sidewalk Stompers Band
The Circle City Sidewalk Stompers Clown Band performs fast-moving, choreographed routines to upbeat music with trumpets, trombones, saxophones, bass and snare drums, and sousaphone while dressed in colorful clown costumes, entertaining the crowd with comic interaction and fancy footwork.
6 PM – St. Mary’s Church Cake Walk at 6th & Locust
6:30 PM-7:45 PM – Trouble and Company
Trouble & Company are award-winning scatters, vocalists, and a state fair award-winning group performing various old rock-and-roll and country. Trouble & Company choreograph their own dances. Their award-winning vocals have taken them to Carnegie Hall in New York City, New Orleans, Louisville Riverboat, and across Indiana and Illinois.
8 PM-9:30 PM – The Dugger Band
9:30 PM- 10:30 PM – Street Dance w/ Sanders Sound Machine
Sunday, Sept 19:
10 am – Worship with Pastor Tim & The First Congregational Church at the Band Stand
11 AM – The Car and Truck Show kicks off on Archer Ave
Entry Fee: $12.00 Pre-Entry – $15.00 Day of Show
11 AM – The Motorcycle Show at 5th & Archer
12 PM – Tot-Rod Pedal Pulls (open to ages 3-12yrs) at 5th & Locust
12 PM Music starts at the bandstand
12 PM-2 PM – Morry Sochat & The Special 20s
Classic Chicago Blues with Swing and Rock N’ Roll from the 1950s.
2:30 PM-4 PM – Rev. Robert & Washboard Shorty
