What a week ahead. Sunday marks the 58th annual Superbowl, which kicked off its first game in 1967. The Kansas City Chiefs face off against the San Francisco 49ers this year. This is the start of a whirlwind week where the stars (and the calendar) aligned to bring us the big game on Sunday, Mardi Gras on Tuesday, and Valentine’s Day on Wednesday.
Ironically, Wednesday is also Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Mardi Gras is the Christian feast of the Epiphany, also known as Shrove Tuesday. It refers to the last night when Christians are supposed to be allowed to eat rich, fatty foods before the fasting begins.
How will we eat those chocolate-covered strawberries, candy, and heart-shaped cookies if we’re supposed to be fasting? Well, it may be a dilemma, but regardless, here are some fun things happening around the area for Valentine’s Day.
