America is about to experience a major milestone in our country’s history. This Fourth of July will be one that will be remembered, talked about, and celebrated in a way none of us has ever experienced. We are about to be 250 years old as an independent nation, the first colony in history to successfully separate from its mother country. It had never been done before, yet a scruffy, rougher, a little more violent, a little less refined, but a lot more determined group of individuals fought the bitter fight that made us the country we are today. We are grateful to them for all they did to create a nation like no other so we can celebrate this 250th anniversary of their effort.
As we near the date when the brave men of the Continental Congress basically committed an act of treason and signed their Declaration of Independence, we are starting to find various ways to celebrate. Festivals and events are popping up everywhere with more to come every week as we approach our Independence Day.
Here in Marshall, we are starting with a new and exciting event right in the town square.
A Toast to 250th Anniversary: Red, White & Wine!
Date: Friday, May 8, 2026
Time: 5–9 PM
The event details:
This event is something new and exciting for Marshall and promises to be full of fun for everyone. The event will include wine tastings from two fantastic wineries – The Pour Vineyard and Wyldewood Cellars. Participants must show proof of age, and only those over 21 will be allowed to enjoy the delicious tastings.
There will be live music, food trucks, and artisan vendors all around Marshall’s Courthouse Square. Come hungry and enjoy the tasty wares from our food trucks, including Cilantros, Cousins Maine Lobster, Frankly Delicious, R & R Wood Fire Pizza, and Shake-Ups by Sam.
Art Demonstrations at the event:
There will be a wide variety of live demonstrations happening throughout the entire evening. These craft people and artists will be showing off their skills in everything from chainsaw art and glass blowing to stained glass and – yes, kids… There will be face painting. There will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy and learn about.
One of the most exciting parts of the festival will be the chalk art demonstration, which runs from 5:30–7:00 PM. It is simply incredible what brilliant, vibrant, and unique works of art these artists can create right before our eyes in such a short amount of time. As a bonus, there will be little bits of chalk art hidden in various places around the square. See how many you can locate. We will have small statues for the first 100 kids to paint for free!

Marshall’s City-Wide Yard Sale

Marshall will be partnering with the Historic National Road Yard Sale – US 40 Sales for our annual City-Wide Yard Sale. Registration is now open, so make sure you register if you plan to participate.
Marshall is a small town with big ideas and big doings. Our City-Wide Yard Sale draws visitors from all over the state and beyond. The bargain hunters come seeking goods from our own basements, attics, garages, and closets. You know what they say… “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Our buyers will travel along US 40 looking for special items, hidden treasures, and great deals on everything you can think of.
Every year, we come together to create this one-day event, and it is a great opportunity for our community members to connect with one another and turn our Spring cleaning efforts into good old cash! Even if you are not planning to be on the selling side, get out and shop, shop, shop at this event, which is one of the most anticipated community-wide events of the year.
